_____

This delightful little story was dredged up from the AEDOK archives. The manuscript was in parts. Some parts more recent than others, others more complete than some. At one point these different versions overlapped and covered the same portion of the story with as many as three or four versions or fragments of the same sentence or paragraph. It's what one might expect actually when an author is creating, arranging, rearranging and assembling, small portions written in the margins or out of place. And, unfortunately it was never finished. Until we got our hands on it.

It was definitely important to maintain the style and grammer, otherwise we would have contributed to the destruction of a creation, even as we were trying to finish the creation. So the various components were carefully compared and sometimes, from a narrative point of view, laying one sentence or paragraph up on the other, to see which parts should go together, often taking fragments from one version of a sentence and combinning with the more cohesive components of another, correcting small errors and filling in blanks. However there was one large hole. A feeling of discontinuity between one part of the manuscript and where are the next part appeared to continued. A gap.

So again keeping with the style, nearly an entire chapter was written. We won't say which at this time because our efforts are not the issue. This was a great creative story. The individual members of the family had personalities. And we wanted to get it out to the world. Which with great joy we are now doing. Indeed, eventually a sequel is in order.

The Art Contest

But good gracious! After we had finalize the manuscript and were in the very last stages of preparation for publication. We were struck by the realization that there was no artwork, no pictures! And though it is true that some of the greatest children's stories from Europe of the past also had no artwork, this was the 20th century (believe it or not we started this project in the 1990s). And in the modern world it is quite acceptable and proper to have pictures with children's stories as an additional entertainment component.

Our editor, contacted a friend whose daughter was very creative and artistic. Though they were ostensibly interested, nothing ever materialized. Subsequently we thought perhaps to advertise on the Internet for an artist. But, as our friends over at Primitive Frontier are wont to say in their recipes, , and choosing one artist amongst the talent of the globe would be nigh impossible.

Then the stroke of genius. An art contest.

But not to arrogantly or condescendingly choose one above all others (which we feel is a barbaric technique which collectively depresses more contestants than it exhilarates, since there is only one first place and there are countless others) but rather, to display and enjoy the variety that you are going to help us bring.

Some of your artwork will be simple. Some will be (we speculate) incredibly intricate and elaborate. Side by side, our juxtapositioning may open the eyes of some who think there is a best cheesecake.

And we even intend to apply to the Guinness Book of World Records as being the first publisher to create a multiple artwork production for the same single story.

This explains the uniqueness of our no looser art search (contest) in greater detail and why it truly does belong in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Varoius Lists

We shall begin with a chronological list, a sort of log, as you submit your artwork. It will be fun to watch as various artists submit different versions of different pictures in a random order over time.

And this link will summon the . But don't click it yet. The lists will overlay this page you are reading.

The lists are always available above from user control panel > menu > lists.

Naturally of course we shall then have an alphabetical list of artists so you can find yourself, your continuing or completed work.

And a list by story page so one can compare various versions of the same storyline content.

But we should also like to have various medium and style lists.

We should then be able to compare such things as oil vs line drawing or oil vs watercolor or all line drawings side by side, etc. But of course that is medium or technique. There are numerous styles also. Two watercolors could easily be of two different styles.

We are not knowledgeable in these things. Please send us lists. And advise us along the way of errors and or omissions.

Your Style

Oh by the way, though we have discussed both medium and style in the Graymouse Family of Wainscot Street - Artist Search Version, we may not have clearly pointing out that you yourself are not required to maintain a single style throughout your entire production. This of course is totally up to you but what we are saying here now is, if you are moved to switch medium or style, from let us say just as an example, water color to black and white line drawing, that is totally acceptable. Or action sequences to single concept thought bubble. Some images may appear to you to be more presentable in one medium or style than another. But on the other hand you might have a theme in mind for your entire set. Again, it's up to you.

And, We Gotta Have Voting

What's a contest without expression of opinion?!

Our Website

As to the format of our website, that too is a creative process. A work-in-progress we might add. (If you experience any difficulties please let us know and we apologize in advance.) And though we have many ideas, we do not presume to have figured out the best way to display and compare this great artwork that you are about to produce.

And in a moment we will briefly discuss the user control panel which will make this possible. But first a quick note about contacting us and then a note about making some money while you're having fun with the Mousefolk on Wainscot Street.

Contact Us

We welcome and in fact encourage you to discuss, critique, and respectfully make suggestions to improve and/ or add to our techniques. We are willing to experiment and develop. Please ask your friends and family, whether they be artistically inclined or not, for ideas and suggestions. You or they may write to us. Email is just a few clicks away.

Some $$$ While We're Having Fun

The AEDOK organization of which we are apart returns a full, whopping, 20% of all revenue (not including deposits) to its members such as you. Even AEDOK Level 1 Observer Members.

And, Level 1 Observer Members pay no membership fees. Membership is free. No strings attached!

That is why we so often stress that everybody should login at least once. By the simple act of logging in (the first time) you become instantly an AEDOK Level 1 Observer Member entitled to receive a piece of the action with their myPieceOfActiontm a.k.a. myActiontm program. Then anyone you refer is potentially a source of revenue for you.

And don't be ashamed to make a little money here. Everyone needs a source of income. A lot of people work part time for no other reason than to be paid. Students need income.

Your school needs income, or the school to which you have sent your children. By contacting your school's Art Department, both you AND your school's Art Department can gain a little revenue. In these hard economic times when everyone is looking for a way to cut back funding of such programs as the Music Department and the Art Department, please don't pass up this opportunity which AEDOK has quite frankly generously provided.

Once you've loggedin, all you need to do is use the myAction
tm link to contact your Art Director. Then, once he/she approves the notification of the students, all they need to do is login using their Art Director's email address as reference. Or the Director can email the students directly using the myActiontm link, and bingo!

But you have to contact him/her first using the myActiontm link so you are logged as the referrer of that person (art class) and you get your yourPieceOfActiontm.

Both our wonderful grayMouse story and our non-discriminatory art contest with no losers has got to be one of the most wholesome projects on the planet. And the referral credits that AEDOK issues are going to be issued to somebody anyway. Why not you and your favorite Art Department?

You can tell anyone about AEDOK, they don't have to be interested in art like you. What ever they spend, you get 10% as a credit. And then a smaller piece of any of their friends, and friends, etc.

More details are always available from default user control panel > myAction > Detail. If something is unclear, send us an email using one of the links above or found elsewhere.

We shall be discussing this default user control panel shorly so that you can navigate through and enjoy our Mousefolk art work that you have helped create.

So after we're done with our brief explanation of vital functionality of your default user control panel, we shall remind you to check out the details of myActiontm so you can get yourPieceOfAction.

Brief Discussion Of Default User Control Panel

The default user control panel allows access to all of the user (member and non-member) controls, options and variations of functionality at any/all of the AEDOK Suitetm of Websites & Domains, thus affording a common and uniform functionality, which in your copious free timetm you shall no doubt explore further.

Your user control panel is located toward the top of your display in the second from the top, long rectangular frame/window, who's title bar is clearly labeled:

User ... Control Panel For Domain: .

Immediately to its left is the tiny user control header frame/window. The user control header provides for variations on the user control panel thus affording maximum user convenience.

For example, each seperate domain, like this domain grayMouse.AEDOK.com, can have its own specialized control panel. All the specialized functions we were talking about earlier will be found in either the default control panel or this specialized grayMouse control panel. All the lists and different comparisons of the variety of artwork will be accessable via these grayMouse control panels.

Either this specialized grayMouse control panel or the common default control panel can be selected from the tiny user control header frame/window. Sort of a control panel's control panel.

For maximum convenience the grayMouse control panel will be automatically selected when you arrive at grayMouse once we've packed it full of functionality. But it is important that you know that you can get to either controls via this header control panel, this tiny user control header frame/window as just explained.

For the purposes of this discussion, the single most important item in either control panel is simply, Menu which is always available from either control panel

As stated above, the Graymouse Family of Wainscot Street website is a work-in-progress. Most of the functionality which shall be added and which we have also discussed above such as lists and other comparative features, as well as voting, shall be accessible through this menu.

Should you ever desire to reference this page itself, the Welcome page you are reading, click on the part of that .

That's really all we need to say because you'll figure out the rest.

Once Again We Thank You
